Email Apps That Organize Your Inbox and Draft Replies (2026)

The tools that do both well are Replyless, Superhuman, Fyxer, Spark and Shortwave, with Copilot in Outlook and Gemini in Gmail as the built-in options. The real split is when the draft appears: Replyless, Fyxer, Superhuman Business and Spark Pro write replies before you open the email, while the others draft when you ask.

Updated November 2026

Most people end up paying for two things: an app to sort the inbox and an AI tool to write replies. This guide looks at the tools that do both in one place, what each costs, and which email providers they work with.

Two kinds of AI drafting

Before comparing tools, it helps to separate two features that both get called "AI drafts".

  • On-request drafts. You open an email, click a button, and the AI writes a reply. Helpful, but you still open every thread and ask.
  • Drafts written ahead. The tool reads incoming mail and writes replies in the background, so they are waiting when you open the inbox. This is what saves real time, and it is usually the more expensive tier. Our practical guide to AI email drafting covers how to review either kind.

Organization matters just as much. Drafts are only useful if the important email is easy to find, and a sorted inbox tells the drafting AI which messages deserve a reply.

Replyless

An AI email app with split inboxes and automatic drafts on every paid plan. Disclosure: this is our product.

  • Organization: AI split inboxes. You start with Important, Payments, Updates and Other, pick more from a list, or add your own. Sender, domain and subject-keyword rules sit on top, and the AI sorts by the category name.
  • Drafts: Auto Drafts writes replies in your voice, learned from your sent mail, for messages from real people in the split inbox you choose (Important by default). You set the tone and a daily limit. On-request drafts and thread summaries work in any thread.
  • Control: Drafts wait for you to review, edit and send. Replyless never sends an auto draft on its own.
  • Providers: Gmail, Outlook / Microsoft 365 and Zoho Mail, plus manual IMAP/SMTP.
  • Price: Basics $15/user/month with 5,000 AI credits a month, Pro $30 with unlimited AI, or Lifetime at $299 once. 7-day trial, no card. It is a web app.

Best for: people on Gmail, Outlook or Zoho who want sorting and ready-made drafts in one app without paying for two tools.

Superhuman

A keyboard-first email client, with its strongest AI on the Business plan.

  • Organization: Split Inbox with VIP, Team, News and custom splits. Auto Labels (Marketing, News, Pitch, Social) move mail to an Other split. Custom labels written as an AI prompt need Business.
  • Drafts: Instant Reply on Starter shows three suggested replies under the latest message. Auto Drafts on Business writes replies and follow-ups ahead of time, and warns you before sending if a placeholder is left in.
  • Providers: Gmail and Outlook, as many accounts as you like.
  • Price: Starter $25 and Business $33 per member per month billed annually, or $30 and $40 billed monthly.
  • Platforms: desktop app, Chrome extension, iOS and Android.

Best for: heavy email users who live on the keyboard and can justify Business pricing.

Fyxer

An assistant that works inside your existing Gmail or Outlook rather than replacing it.

  • Organization: Sorts email into categories such as To respond, FYI and Marketing. You choose which stay in the inbox and which move to folders.
  • Drafts: Writes replies in your tone automatically and puts them in your own inbox. Its FAQ says it does not send on your behalf.
  • Providers: Gmail and Outlook. Linking both still counts as one seat.
  • Price: Free plan without auto drafts or labeling. Pro is $37 per person per month billed annually or $49 monthly; Team is $64 or $99. A 14-day Team trial drops to Free when it ends.

Best for: people who want to keep Gmail or Outlook exactly as it is and add sorting and drafts on top.

Spark

A polished multi-account client whose automatic drafting is new this autumn.

  • Organization: Smart Inbox sorts mail into personal, newsletter and notification groups, with Priority, Gatekeeper and Group by Sender.
  • Drafts: Spark +AI writes on request from Plus. Auto-Drafts, which drafts replies in the background, is on Pro and was gradually rolling out to Desktop and iOS as of October 2026.
  • Providers: Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, IMAP and more.
  • Price: Free plan. Plus is $10 a month or $99 a year; Pro is $20 a month or $199 a year. Seven-day trial of Plus and Pro in the app.

Best for: people with several accounts across providers who want a strong free tier and can wait for Auto-Drafts to reach their device.

Shortwave

The richest AI inbox for Gmail, if Gmail is all you use.

  • Organization: Splits, Bundles, AI filters (3, 10 or 50 depending on plan), automatic labels and delivery schedules.
  • Drafts: One-click contextual drafts and AI autocomplete on every plan, including Free. Writing in your own style starts at Pro. Automatic drafting is handled by a separate product, Tasklet, not Shortwave itself.
  • Providers: Gmail and Google Workspace only. Microsoft 365 and Exchange are not supported.
  • Price: Free plan. Pro is $18 a month or $14 billed annually; Business starts at $30 or $24. 14-day trial.

Best for: Gmail and Workspace users who want deep AI search and organization, and are happy to ask for each draft.

Copilot in Outlook

Microsoft's AI, built into the Outlook you already use.

  • Organization: Focused Inbox splits mail into Focused and Other. On Windows it works for Microsoft 365, Exchange and Outlook.com accounts.
  • Drafts: On request. You write a prompt or use Help me reply, review the draft, edit it and send.
  • Providers: Microsoft accounts. Gmail, Yahoo and iCloud accounts in Outlook can use Copilot with a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family or Premium plan, though not in classic Outlook for Windows.
  • Price: Microsoft 365 Personal is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. For businesses, the Copilot Business add-on is $21 per user per month paid yearly, and requires a card for its one-month trial.

Best for: teams already on Microsoft 365 who want drafting help without another app.

Gemini in Gmail

Google's AI inside Gmail, with fixed sorting and on-request replies.

  • Organization: Gmail's built-in tabs (Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates, Forums). You can't add your own tabs.
  • Drafts: Suggested Replies appear at the bottom of an email for you to edit and send. Free personal accounts get Help me write and Suggested Replies in the US only; personalized replies need a Google AI or Workspace plan.
  • Price: Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month. Workspace Business Starter is $7 per user per month with a one-year commitment, includes Gemini in Gmail, and has a 14-day trial.

Best for: Google Workspace teams who want lightweight help and no new app.

How to choose

  1. Start with your provider. Shortwave and Gemini are Gmail only. Copilot is strongest on Microsoft accounts. Replyless, Superhuman, Fyxer and Spark cover both, and Replyless also covers Zoho Mail.
  2. Decide if you need drafts written ahead. If you only reply to a few emails a day, on-request drafting is enough. If replying is the bottleneck, look at Replyless, Fyxer, Superhuman Business or Spark Pro.
  3. Compare the price of that tier, not the entry plan. Automatic drafts start at $15 a month on Replyless, $16.58 to $20 on Spark Pro, $33 to $40 on Superhuman Business and $37 to $49 on Fyxer Pro.
  4. Check how much sorting you can customize. Gmail tabs and Focused Inbox are fixed. Replyless and Superhuman let you create your own categories.
  5. Run a trial on your real inbox for a week before paying.

FAQ

Which email app organizes the inbox and drafts replies in one place?
Replyless, Superhuman, Fyxer, Spark and Shortwave all do both. Replyless, Fyxer, Superhuman Business and Spark Pro also write drafts in the background before you open an email.

Do AI email assistants send replies without asking?
None of the tools here describes sending AI replies on its own. Replyless, Fyxer and Spark leave drafts for you to review and send, and Superhuman warns you before sending a draft with a placeholder still in it.

What is the cheapest app that writes reply drafts automatically?
Replyless Basics at $15 per user per month, with a 7-day trial and no card. Spark Pro is $199 a year, which works out to about $16.58 a month.

Do I still need a separate tool if I use Copilot or Gemini?
Not for drafting on request. Both stop at fixed sorting (Focused Inbox, Gmail tabs) and drafts you ask for, so a separate app only helps if you want custom categories or drafts waiting for you.
